A Russian night was organized to celebrate the unique culture and tradition of the Russians. The event which took place on the 18th of August at the EMU beach club witnessed the presence of ISS students, staff, assistants and also invited guests. The ISS coordinator delivered an opening speech, in her speech, she welcomed the guest, thanked them for coming and urged them to enjoy watching the display of the rich Russian culture.

The night started with a photoshoot in the special Russian frame (Matryoshka), the frame was decorated with Russian pattern. Soon after the photo shoot, the MC introduced the country; Russia to the guests through a question and answer session, he also told a few facts about Russia, for instance why there are more women than men in Russia, apparently the men went to fight in the world war, while the women stayed back to take care of their children.

There was Russian song performance by a few students, one of them, the winner of the 2016 ISS Talent Hunt; also, a play was acted by the ISS students with the help of assistants to depict how Russian weddings are conducted. A traditional Russian wedding lasts for two days, some last for as long as one week, during the wedding, the best man and maid of honor are called witnesses and the ring exchange takes place on the first day of the wedding.

The guests were served with a delicious Russian delicacy of mashed potatoes and chicken prepared with Russian spices alongside the tasty Russian Comport drink. Kreps and apple pies were served as desserts and the guests enjoyed every bite of them. An exhibition stand was created to showcase the amazing art works of the Painting and Glass painting class, people in attendance were indeed marveled at the height of creativity the ISS students possess. With the Djs rhythm ringing through the ears of everyone, we danced our hearts out until the event came to an end at 11pm. Russian night was awesome and we look forward to more theme nights.
