Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) is a leading institution of higher education located on the island of Cyprus. With its advanced infrastructure, distinguished faculty, and a diverse student body comprising approximately 16,000 individuals from 110 nations and 1,100 academics representing 35 countries, Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) offers quality programs in English alongside the opportunity to learn a second foreign language. The university provides student exchange programs, extensive sports, social, and cultural activities, as well as international accreditations, ensuring an education that is recognized worldwide. EMU equips its students for global careers by fostering creativity, competitiveness, and entrepreneurial skills within an international teaching environment. The university offers 107 undergraduate and school programs, along with 103 postgraduate and doctoral degree programs delivered by 12 faculties, 4 schools, and the Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School. As a member of prestigious organizations such as the International Association of Universities, the European University Association, the Community of Mediterranean Universities, and the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World, EMU places significant emphasis on international recognition. 

The university has earned accreditation from prominent international accrediting bodies, reinforcing its commitment to delivering excellence in education.

Our accreditations



EMU is a full member of the International Association of Universities, the European University Association, Community of Mediterranean Universities and the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World. Giving special importance to international recognition, EMU has received the accreditation of various prominent international accrediting bodies. EMU is only one of five universities in the region to have been awarded the prestigious ABET (Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology) in the field of engineering. Similarly, EMU Architecture Faculty holds the MİAK accreditation. Business and Economics Faculty, Tourism Faculty and School of Computing and Technology have been granted the accreditation of FIBAA. Education Faculty English Language Teaching (ELT) Department was accredited by AQAS. Additionally, EMU School of Tourism and Hospitality Management gained the accreditation of TEDQUAL and the Computer Technologies and Information Systems offered by School of Computing and Technology (SCT) successfully passed ASIIN accreditation process. EMU Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School has successfully obtained EDEXCEL accreditation. Last but not least, our University's Business and Economics Faculty is a full member of EFMD and AACSB along with only three universities in Turkey. Times Higher Education (THE), the publisher of university rankings widely referenced in the world and published in England, announced the ranking of the world’s best universities. According to the results of the rankings where 1,904 universities from 108 countries succeeded in entering the rankings, Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) was ranked in the 601-800 band in the world. University of Oxford took the first place in the THE World University Rankings followed by University of Stanford in second place and Massachusetts Institute of Technology in third place.
