EMU International Summer School Organised an African Night

It was fun, exciting, captivating, educational and memorable; it was African Night. We almost can’t get over it. EMU ISS ensures the students have one event or the other to make summer at EMU unforgettable, the 3rd of August was not left without an event as Africa and Africans were celebrated.

The event which began at 8pm witnessed the presence of the Summer School Students, Assistants, Staff and Invited guests majority of who were dressed in different African regalia. At the start of the event, a fashion show was hosted to showcase the different African attires from the various African cultures represented and every model looked stunning in their attires. A question and answer session was organized by the MC to know how much people know about Africa. He asked members of the audience to say some interesting facts they knew about Africa and they knew some rather interesting facts indeed.


As part of the event for the night, a play was presented by students from the theatre class; a dance and dance drama were presented by the specially invited Koroso dancers and there was also an exhibition stand setup to showcase the creative works of the painting and creative art students.

The food served was phenomenal, there was a main course of Fried rice, Chicken and salads while chin-chin, mosa and spring rolls were served as desserts. Contemporary African music was played to spice up the night. A Fuji live band was invited to grace the event with their rhythm which was sweet to the ears.

The students and invited guests expressed their excitement about the African Night, majority of them have admitted to the fact that it has so far been their best summer school night.  more nights like these would be hosted, its not too late to join the EMU ISS to be part of the experience of a lifetime.
